Carly Koranda

“I have always had a strong desire to work with children and adolescents from a young age. While working as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner, it became clear to me that there was a need to serve children, adolescents, and their families who have slipped through the mental and behavioral health care cracks. Simply put, I want to help transform children, adolescents, and their families who struggle with mental and behavioral health issues from invisible to distinguishable, thriving individuals.”

Carly KorandaPediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist

Carly Koranda is a Board-Certified Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist with more than seven years of experience in direct primary care. After discovering a deep desire to serve children and adolescents dealing with psychiatric challenges, Ms. Koranda decided to narrow her clinical focus. In her role at the Eappen Clinic, she diagnoses, treats, counsels, and coordinates care for patients who are 17 and under. She is driven by a strong desire to provide excellent care for her pediatric patients and their families.

Ms. Koranda began her career as a Registered Nurse at the Children’s Institute (Pittsburgh, PA) in the psychiatric unit working with children who have Prader Willi Syndrome (a genetic disorder that can cause behavioral problems). In 2013, she moved to Chicago for a Pediatric Operating Room Nurse position at Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and to pursue her doctorate in nursing practice from The University of Illinois at Chicago. She graduated cum laude and with honors. In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Koranda serves on the Patient Advisory Board at St. Mary’s Presence Health and volunteers at a soup kitchen for The Chicago Help Initiative.

Her colleagues know Ms. Koranda as a reliable and responsible team player who believes in patient advocacy and empowerment through the delivery of care that enhances wellness in all forms. Her patients know her as enthusiastic, hardworking, personable, and friendly.

Since joining the Eappen Clinic in March 2022, Ms. Koranda has proven that she’s eager to learn and prepared to go above and beyond for each one of her patients.

Feel happy again.
